Why Join APPI?
"I was invited to APPI by a friend. As a new piano teacher it felt like a bold step at attend. I was immediately hooked by the friendly people I met and the rich content presented and shared at the meetings. APPI is a "safe" place. I never feel judged on the questions I ask, the comments I make, or even the small size of my studio. I leave each meeting either feeling validated or with new ideas to approach challenges - or even a little of both!" - Susan Hareland
"I joined APPI to get to know more teachers in the Twin Cities area. I liked that it catered to teachers of all ages and levels. I thought it was important to become a paid member so I could add it to my resume and let my piano families know about my professional involvement outside of the studio. Although just attending teacher meetings is free, becoming a full member allowed my students to get involved in the excellent student events.
"The teacher meetings are excellent, offering a wide variety of speakers, topics, and sharing sessions. Now that I am unable to attend meetings due to being a stay-at-home Mom, I still learn from the monthly minutes that are available to members.
"The student events are unique to this group. No other organization in our area offers student events like these. My students have had all positive experiences with APPI events in recent years." - Monica Allen, NCTM, MM

"Ten years ago, when I lived in St. Peter, MN, I was invited to give a presentation at an APPI meeting on "Preparing a Student for Public Performance." This was my first introduction to the group and I was impressed by its energy, the camaraderie of the teachers, its programming and the great teaching ideas that members shared. Six years ago I moved to the metro area and one of the first things I did was join APPI. I have been very happy to be part of an organization that continues to teach me new things, supports me in my teaching and is full of creative and fun people." - Rebekah Richards, NCTM, MM
"I stay with APPI every year because of the members! They are young and old, new to teaching and seasoned veterans, teach in home studios and music schools. Some have pedagogy degrees and many are learning as they go. It is a wealth of expertise that contributes to the development of my teaching skills." - Jim Lansing
"APPI's monthly meetings are a wonderful resource for independent piano teachers to ask questions, share ideas, and be inspired. I am grateful for fellow teachers who generously share their wisdom in a supportive and positive atmosphere." - Kristi McNellis, NCTM
"I joined APPI looking for ways to network and for professional development opportunities. There always seems to be some kind of new tidbit to ponder and try in my own teaching!" - Luke Swanger, MM
"I was encouraged to join APPI by fellow piano teachers at MacPhail, and when I attended my first meeting, I felt welcomed and included. I like the great discussions and speakers, student programs, and the sense of community." - Rebecca Hass
"I joined APPI to meet other teachers and be able to obtain and share teaching ideas with them. It is important to keep connected with other teachers. I enjoy getting new information and ideas on how to teach and repertoire to try. By keeping an open communication between APPI members, we all benefit from each other's experiences and teaching resources. I'm always looking for new things to try in my studio." - Vicky Mackerman
